Check temporary courier cover for 1–28 days

Enter the registration of the car or van you plan to use, then check whether temporary courier cover is available for your delivery work.

Quote service provided by GoShorty, an FCA-authorised insurance broker. You will leave Here4 Insurance when you continue.

If you deliver food, takeaways or groceries only occasionally, temporary cover may be available for an eligible car or van for 1–28 days.

Key facts about this temporary route

  • Duration: this is the 1–28-day route; the quote shows the exact minimum and available period for the selected vehicle.
  • UK connection: GoShorty’s published eligibility information says the applicant needs a permanent UK address and the insured journey must start and end in the UK.
  • Use: paid parcel, food or grocery delivery needs carriage-of-goods-for-hire-and-reward cover.
  • Goods carried: the motor policy does not insure the value of food, parcels or other goods in the vehicle.
  • Eligibility: driver, vehicle, work and underwriting rules apply; a quote is not a guarantee of acceptance.

Insurance for paid food deliveries

Being paid to transport meals, takeaway orders or groceries is hire-and-reward use. Ordinary private insurance, commuting cover or standard business use does not normally include this activity. The permitted use shown on the certificate must match what you actually do.

Delivery apps and local takeaway work

GoShorty’s current delivery guidance includes eligible work involving Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats, as well as paid food or grocery deliveries. This does not guarantee that every driver, vehicle or job will qualify, and each platform or contractor may set separate requirements.

Match the cover period to the whole shift

Cover may be requested for an individual shift, a weekend, a busy week or another period lasting no more than 28 days. Check the exact start and end time. The policy needs to remain active for the whole insured journey, not merely the time shown as active in a delivery app.

Car and van routes

Use temporary courier car insurance if you will deliver in a car, or temporary courier van insurance for an eligible commercial van.

This temporary branch is based on confirmed car and van products. It should not be treated as bicycle, e-bike, scooter or motorcycle cover; those vehicles require an appropriate separate insurance route.

Food, orders and business liabilities are separate

The motor policy does not insure the meals, groceries, packaging or other goods being carried. It also does not automatically provide public liability or every other form of business insurance. Check the delivery contract to see whether separate Goods in Transit, public liability or other protection is required.

UK address and journey requirement

GoShorty’s published eligibility information says the applicant needs a permanent UK address and the insured journey must start and end in the UK. Further licence, driving-history, vehicle and underwriting criteria apply during the quote.

Working for more than 28 days

This branch is for cover lasting no more than 28 days. If you need courier insurance for 29 days or more, return to the courier insurance options and choose the ongoing-cover route.

Temporary courier insurance FAQs

Can this cover Deliveroo, Just Eat or Uber Eats work?

Eligible work involving these platforms may be considered, subject to the quote, policy terms and the platform’s own current requirements.

Can I insure only a Friday or weekend shift?

Select an available period long enough for the whole insured journey and check the precise start and expiry time.

Does the policy insure food if it is damaged or stolen?

No. Food, groceries and other items being delivered are not covered by the motor policy. Check whether separate Goods in Transit cover is required.

Can I use a bicycle, scooter or motorbike?

This temporary branch is based on confirmed car and van products. It should not be presented as bicycle, scooter or motorcycle cover.

Can one policy be used for more than one delivery app?

The actual permitted use depends on the certificate, schedule and policy wording, as well as each platform’s rules. Declare the planned work accurately during the quote.

What if food delivery will be my regular job?

If you need more than 28 days, return to the courier insurance options and choose ongoing cover.
